"The First Law of Success"
"The first law of success is service.
We get what we give, and for this reason
we should consider it a great privilege to give."
- - Charles Haanel
In the mountain area where we live there are a
multitude of beautiful lakes. Little gems nestled
in the trees, with crystal clear water from springs
and bubbling brooks running into the lake, and out.
There's a lesson for us in these lakes, one that it's
easy to forget when the news is so depressing.
The lesson is this - the lakes are healthy because
they have both an inflow, and an outflow. If you don't
have both, the lake becomes polluted and dead, like
the Great Salt Lake, or the Dead Sea.
For us if we want to be financially healthy and
prosperous we have to have both, too. We have to
give if we want to get. We can't hoard our money in
fear.
As Charles Haanel says, "Fear is the opposite of
money consciousness. It's poverty consciousness."
We give in two ways. We give in service to others
through our work, our products and services. And
we give in gratitude by sharing our time and money.
You've heard of tithing? Take 10% of your time and
money off the top and support the people and
institutions that feed you spiritually. Do it in gratitude,
expecting nothing in return. And watch what happens.
Some people have had a bad experience with tithing
because they think that it's something that churches
teach just so they can get money.
Maybe some do, and if yours is like that, change! My
wife and I have, at last count, 8 different places we
tithe each month. Where do you get fed? Send them
a check or a Pay Pal donation.
The best organizations teach tithing because they
know it makes YOU prosperous! It's part of fulfilling
the laws of service and giving. Giving is one of the
five Gratitude principles, you know.
The time you most need to give is when you're feeling
lack and limitation. Read the Gratitude book again.
Read Joe Vitale's "Greatest Money Making Secret in
History" that I quote in the Gratitude book. Read the
story of the guy who gave his last $20 to a family on
the street corner.
If 10% is way out of your comfort zone, start with less
but give something!
Giving creates miracles! Except they're not miracles,
they're the law of giving in action.
Give boldly!
Wes

Dealing with Fear and Change
Boy, a lot of people are struggling right now to
deal with the economy and their fears about
the future. Wouldn't it be great to be able to ask
some really successful people how they dealt
with it in their lives?
You can! I've been rereading these 15 interviews,
with Jim Rohn, Michael Fortin, Joe Vitale, Bob
Berg and more, and they're even more inspiring
now in this economy than they were before!
They did it. You can do it. Read how. Oh, and the answer's
not in a bunch of marketing tips.
