Gratitude" as an audio program? Pop it in your CD player

stress, more good things for you. It makes a great gift,
too, if I do say so myself. Get it here
"What Would You Have Seen?"
"The whole world is simply my story,
projected back to me on the screen
of my own perception. All of it."
- - Byron Katie
Have you ever had the experience of finding
that someone you'd shared an experience
with, like your spouse perhaps, had a
different memory of what happened?
Yeah, me too!
We laugh about it but there's something
going on that's actually very important and
can have a big effect on our lives. The best
way to illustrate this is with a story.
Not just any story, a famous story that
many of you may have heard, but I bet you
missed the real message. It's from one of
the greatest collections of teaching stories
that there is - the Judeo-Christian Bible.
Here's the story - the Israelite people have
been wandering across the desert, having
been told that there's this wonderful Promised
Land that they're going to. After many
adventures and a lot of whining and moaning
they get to the border and they can see what
they're told is the PL in the distance.
So 12 guys get picked as scouts and told to
go snoop around and see if it really is the PL
or just more desert. So off they go and after a
long wait they come back with their report.
Problem is, they come back with two reports
so different that you'd think they went to two
different places. Two guys, the "minority report,"
are lugging all kinds of samples of food and
drink and report that it's paradise on Earth!
The other 10 guys, the "majority report," are
not happy. All they saw was walled cities,
big soldiers, armed guards and trouble with a
capital T. Their report is simple - "We're gonna
die!"
How can that be? How can they go to the
same place and have such a different
experience?
The answer is pretty simple. We have to
realize that what we think is reality is just
our beliefs being reflected back to us. Two
guys went and saw abundance; 10 guys went
and saw problems. Why? Because two guys
expected abundance, and 10 guys expected
problems. That's the way it usually is. Most
people always see problems, not opportunities.
Which attitude is more likely to get you what
you want? Which attitude is the one you usually
have when you think about your goals? Could the
wrong attitude be holding you back? You get to
choose - grapes or giants?
Another lesson comes from the fact that in
the story the Israelites didn't get into the PL
until all the problem whiners had died. This is
a very important success principle - you can't
have what you are not ready to mentally accept!
You have to kill off your old negative mental
attitudes, 'cause if all you see is problems,
that's all you're going to get.
See your vision in your mind, mentally accept it,
act on it, and you'll receive it.
Every time now you have this experience of
having a different memory of an event than
someone else, you'll be reminded that we
don't see things as they are, but as we are!
After you quit laughing, do a quick check to be
sure you're seeing grapes, not giants.
That's something to be grateful for!
Wes
